No. Irie is reference to (chiefly in Jamaican English) nice, good, or pleasing (used as a general term of approval). Its Jamaican food
I'm not sure. But they got chicken
Really tasty little cafe. Limited seating, plastic cutlery, seriously good.
Not what it used to be. Jamaican patty did not have any meat in it, just mostly piping hot spicy gravy.Ordered the jerk chicken, found the rice not seasoned very well, 2 small pieces of chicken, one leg and one thigh, and no jerk sauce poured on top. The fried dough ball was very tough to choke down, usually they are crunchy on the outside and light on the inside. This one was hard as a rock on the outside and heavy inside. The coleslaw was not fresh, or chilled, seemed like a grocery store bag with store bought mayo style dressing. For a home style shop it was unfortunately sub par, although for $9.99 wed special what could I expect. I'd rather spend the extra cash and get something I could rave about to my friends and family.
Ordered some family favorites for my parents 50 th Anniversary Party May 11 2019. Everything was spot on. The food was fabulous and Irie Foods was so accommodating and helpful on planning the amounts etc! Highly recommend! Enjoyed every bite! 😋
Amazing Jamaican food! Tried their food truck at a festival downtown and so glad their restaurant isn't too far from home. I love their goat curry and my boyfriend always gets the large jerk chicken. With the rice and peas, coleslaw and fried dumpling, we are always full and satisfied. Definitely want to try their patties next time!
For the most part the food is good. Can be hit or miss at times depending on what time of the day you come. "We nah have that" is a common term here. Hahaha not bad tho.
The food here is grotesquely good, I could have oxtail all the days of my life and be pleasantly happy. So delicious.
I tried their oxtail. For a small it was a decent size; however, the coleslaw tasted like it was from costco and they just added the dressing on top. The oxtail itself was not a lot. It had some kick, but the sauce was very runny. I expected more, but I have tasted better. Not worth the price. I also tasted the patty. The patty doesn't taste homemade. In my opinion, it was probably bought frozen.
Extremely disappointing from the service to the food. Terrible!
I only go here for the deal on Wednesdays but I've been going here for years and it been great every single time.
Best Carribbean food. I love love the oxtail. It is to die for.
Their jerk is not jerk it is BBQ.... Decent portion size for the price but don't expect authentic Jamaican food
I have been coming here for lunch for a couple years now. The food is always fast and definitely tasty. Come early on Jerk Chicken Wednesday because this small restaurant gets jammed packed really quick.
Food use to be amazing here. Ordered Curry Chicken and Jerk Chickens both were dry!!!! Curry chicken had no sauce. The only tasty thing was the pineapple Soda. Will not be going back ever.
First and last.... what Jamaican cooks oxtail with sweet red peppers.... all I tasted was sweet.... if I wanted dessert I would have ordered it! Curry chicken was all potatoes and again.... where's the curry? Chicken? Never again! What a waste of $40
One of the small few places; that serve ture Carribean dishes
The best curry goat we've ever tried! Crunchy and soft inside rotti. Huge portions for that price. Friendly ambience and Jamaican reggae to set the mood. Definitely will be regular customer!
Yummy food. Jerk chicken was fabulous. Chef gave me a piece of ox tail to try...very tender and juicy. Will be going again. Hats off to the chef
Stale food. Not pleased 30something dollars on meat and rice old from the weekend. Mine who you serve, if was closer would have returned it. Freshly cooked food is very obvious and what they served was NOT
If your looking for authentic Jamaican cuisine and you are in the Edmonton area - irie foods should be at the top of your list of restaurant choices.Eat in or take out, there food is consistently good - almost as good as my mom's (don't tell her I said that).
Excellent jerk chicken! Priced a little higher than others but the large portions more than made up for it. 4 out of 5, would definitely go back!
This is the best place!! Just moved here from Montreal and by far this is the best Jamaican cuisine I have ever eaten!!! Never had an oxtail as amazing as this place and their jerk chicken is to die for!! Owner Delia is awesome!! What a great place!!!
I tried their food few times and food was not great or not bad.the receptionist some days rude.today I called them for a take out they told me hold on a second and put me on hold for 15 mins then disconnected
Down-home friendly service family operation not high volume High profits just good old school restaurant food if you like variety of spicy flavour this is quite tasty but make sure you have water handy LOL
I'm saying 5 star just cause I love the food here and everyone is polite to me here :) mmm mmm five stars
The food was good but you could tell that it was microwaved and not fresh compared to price being paid. The service was okay and it could be better.
There is a reason they have been around for so long. Always good food!!
I tried the curry chicken and it was amazing, will definitely go again.
I used to love Ms V's but she went out of business the other Jamaican options didn't meet my expectations until I heard about this place on CBC radio 1. And become my favourite ever! Cow foot yum yum yum!!!
The food is amazing here. Best Jamaican food in town. The oxtail is incredible.
Fast and efficient customer service. Good food.
Best Caribbean Food Ever. Staff that work here are super sweet! when we're not in the caribbean this place makes us feel right at home! If you are craving the Caribbean you just have to hit this place up! Don't miss out
Great food. Great service. Great Jerk Chicken. A+++
I got the ox tail, meat was so tender you could suck it off the bone.Tastes great and very filling, if not a tiny bit pricey but still a great meal. Beef patties are great too, definitely recommend.
Sooo good! I had the curry chicken with roti! Nice lil touch with the fried dumplin also! WILL BE BACK! Best on the south
Best Jamaican patties I’ve ever tasted
Short hours. Small portions. Lady packed my food in the bag weird so the sauce was all in the bottom when I opened the bag at home. Service was meh. Store is raggedy. Food was decent though, but not for the price for the small portion ($18 for a roll-your-own-roti kit).
Taste lot for your money Good Jamaican flavor
Not the same with new cook
Nice jerky chicken and unpretentious service.
Discovered this place from trying their beef patties from their food truck at an outdoor venue. WOW!! ⤠I am in love with this restaurant's beef patties now!!
Not my cup of tea. Jerk gravy to runny. Oxtail to soft. Coleslaw dressing tastes like ranch sauce. North end saffrons is way better.
Friendly staff. Amazing food. A must have.
Jerk chicken is hit or miss, chicken can be tender or can be very dry and hard to chew at times. Flavour of the sauce is good tho
good food best jerk chicken in south edmonton
From 3 stars to 1. Undercooked, unseasoned, fake smoked "jerk" chicken.
Very good Jerk Chicken. Customer service is not the best, but the food makes it worth it. The restaurant itself is smaller with limited seating, but it seems most people order takeout. Would recommend, especially on Wednesdays when they have a deal for Jerk Chicken.
First time trying out this hidden gem. In my opinion, the food was very good. We had the jerk chicken, it was a little bit spicy but just enough. I'll probably be back
Love the oxtail and rice and peas
Go, go, go and get yourself some jerk chicken and curry goat now! The food here is fantastic!
The food is, at best, decent. The portions are tiny for the price. I have attached pictures of the $17 meal which was barely sufficient as a lunch. I wouldn't say the meal was terrible, but it was certainly not worth the price. Unfortunately, there's a distinct lack of competition in Edmonton, but one meal here provides the incentive to try it yourself at home.
